“All society needs is the bravery of thinking positively.”
Through my complex life of mental illnesses, the answers were never to be simple. When they were, they often lacked depth, meaning, and relatability. But why were they always right in the end?
Nobody likes to hear it:
Just take action!
Just stop being scared!
Just feel better!
It’s why I don’t beat around the bush even in my blog posts:
Life is as complicated as we make it, because life is infinite.
So when I say, “Just think positively,” it won’t land that positively in most people’s minds.
Why? Because we make it complicated. We make it detailed. It’s why I put “bravery” in there as well. Certain shifts are needed if someone were to make that kind of shift.
It takes positive shifts in behaviour and speech; it takes a total shift in our outlook on life.
But that’s the point.
Because if the end, the desire, or the financial freedom is what we want, why do we not immediately go there?
Why do things HAVE to be complicated? And why do we not respond well to somebody saying something so simple?
It’s probably too good to be true…
I remember wearing a shirt like that in school one day: “Too good to be true” in big, gold, and silver letters.
I have the faintest idea why I wore it, but it got some reactions, to say the least.
My point: Every single adult knew the phrase by heart.
It’s one of those silent truths that kiiiiillssss…
Oh, the drama!
But it’s a big belief that most of us learn as children. We get built up, only to be torn down. And it’s the greatest lie I call “adulthood.”
As most adults would argue, adulthood entails a kind of careful skepticism we encounter at 24, 25 (some sooner), when things get very complicated.
You learn that the world isn’t nice and that luck exists, but not for you.
Work hard, get praised. But most of all: Do not believe magical things are possible, for they are not.
But this only means they won’t be, and it’s a thing most people forget because most people aren’t really aware how their own perspective literally creates different realities we all experience (differently), and it’s why one person has great “luck” and the other doesn’t.
- Big breath -
This is a “don’t knock it till you try it” kind of blog post, because you probably haven’t tried it yet.
What do you mean? Why, thinking positively, of course!
Is it that easy?
OMGHFHAIHSAHAAAAAAAAAH!
Yes, my dear, it is that easy.
Now go do it (for like a week). And if it’s uncomfortable, then you’re doing a good job!
Much love,
Juliet
