Happiness is simple. Why can’t yours?

There is a lot of misunderstanding when it comes to happiness.
It is not something you achieve, something you can only experience half the time you’re here, or something that’s only available once you’re secure.
I believe it’s a way of life.

So why are we making it so conditional?
You could literally be in any situation and still choose to be happy.
But maybe that’s the thing — most of us don’t experience it as a choice.
And that’s exactly why it feels so conditional.

Think of it like this:

If you’re in a situation that feels unbearable…
You are the one labeling it as unbearable.
That’s a perspective.

We need to keep you from thinking your circumstances have anything personal to do with you.

Because the truth is:
You are not your circumstances.

You could be in the same life, and feel joy.
That’s the most direct explanation I can give.
But when you’re so identified with everything going on around you, happiness stops feeling like a choice.

So, how do you get your power back — and with it, your ability to choose happiness?

Ask yourself this:

What could happen if you just chose to be happy?
Right now. With your life exactly the way it is.

What would happen?

Really… what would happen?

Probably nothing.
But you'd be happy.

Unhappiness only exists when we feel like the choice has been taken away.
But we are the ones taking that choice away by not choosing happiness.

(Have you read my recent blog post about fear being the greatest paradox to ever exist?
It’s wild how accurately it applies to almost everything we do as humans.
But of course — we’re made of love, and the opposite of love is fear. So it makes perfect sense.)

The fear of being happy only exists when we feel like our freedom to choose has been taken from us.

And yes — I’ve repeated that sentence.
Because it’s that powerful.

Just knowing this shifts something.
Happiness no longer becomes impossible within your current situation.
It becomes… available. Right now.
Because it’s a choice.

You can always choose to be happy. Always.
No one is pointing a gun to your head, saying you can’t.

But… do you feel like you can?

That’s the real question.

So — why not?

Why can’t your happiness be as simple as that? To just be… happy?

Why not?
I’m genuinely asking you.
Why not?

Aren’t you starting to see how ridiculously simple it is?
Happiness is separate from your circumstances?
That it’s a you thing?

But the moment you label your unwanted circumstances as being forever, that’s when happiness starts feeling impossible.
That’s when your choice gets buried by you.

So now I ask you:

How do you want to label your unwanted circumstances from now on?

I hope this helped you.

Much love,
Juliet
