Heal The World by Making Yourself a Better Place

It’s pretty easy to keep looking out there. But that’s a way of living I’ve never, well, have lived by.

Guess what I want to convey by only writing down these keywords:

Plane, oxygen mask, child, adult, first.

I think you get where I’m getting at.

I could go on a long tangent right now to explain why it’s so crucial that you believe in yourself. But that’s boring, and you’ve probably heard it before.

No, I would like to go on a long tangent to explain the opposite: why people keep choosing the easy route to put the focus outward, not inward. It’s because it saves them a lot of pain. But not on a long-term basis.

No, long-term, this is going to bite you in your butt. If you keep regurgitating why you are dissatisfied with the world and the state it is currently in, you are creating a habit of whining about things out of your control. Most people feel they are doing something productive when they whinge about important stuff, but it’s still considered whinging (or whining). And I don’t mean to put you down in any way by calling it whining. I get why people do it!

It’s sometimes the only thing we seemingly can do.

But it’s not! You don’t change the world by putting a finger on what’s wrong with it, and you certainly don’t change the world by coming from a place of hatred when you do take action towards it.

But yeah, pain. Because that’s the real reason why people don’t like to look inward. People live such comfortable lives that feeling discomfort has become their greatest fear. But you are going to have to make a choice here. Because what you put out there is what you get back. The world and the people in it are mirrors reflecting who you are being.

When you start to look inward, that is what you’ll find.

It’s the thing most people are scared of because it means they are at fault. But it’s not your fault; it’s your responsibility.

Can we stop blaming now? You are not at fault, the world is not at fault, nor are the people in it. But you do have a responsibility:

Sounds easy, right? But, is it? Well, yes and no.

Because this goes against what most people believe. That we have to make change ‘out there.’ That we have to find solutions, you guessed it, ‘out there.’ We have to point out the problem, make a plan, and take action on that plan. But as I said before, the world is your mirror. Most protests don’t work because those protests are fuelled with hatred. And, how you make real change is easy!

You change yourself first.

Don’t forget who wants to make sure change happens: you. And how do you show up in your world?

Are you an empowered woman when you protest about women’s oppression? Or do you feel oppressed?

Do you feel like an equal to all humans when you want to have your voice heard? Or do you feel like your opinion doesn’t matter anyway?

Remember to look at yourself first when you whinge about something or angrily protest. Don’t get frustrated when change seems unattainable. How you show up in the world and to yourself is truly the most important thing.

Thank you so much for reading!
