How to Not Be Yourself: 5 Easy Steps

Sometimes, we need a break from ourselves. Not because we hate who we are, but because we’re annoyed with who we’ve become. Don’t think you’re alone in this, because you are not. Most people just don’t talk about this subject in this manner. So, if you are the tiniest bit fed up with you right now, here are 5 easy steps to take!

  1. It’s all relative

    Everything that happens in this life is all relative. Without making it too complicated, this just means everything is here temporarily. Us humans like to think the world of ourselves, and that’s all okay! But, we oftentimes forget just how non-permanent everything truly is. And that’s okay too!

    I hope this helps you to realize that you and your graved in personality are non-permanent as well.

2. Changes are easy to make

We think the worst of change because it seems so difficult, so out of reach. But it looks difficult and out of reach because we view it through the lens of absolute fear. Fear that is uniquely tailored to each person and will not back down as long as you fuel it. And we do so every single day without awareness. Let go of the lens of fear! Fear doesn’t feel good, and it’s not who you are, even if you've believed otherwise for so long.

Change is easy, you just have to view it differently.

3. Build easy habits

By ‘easy habits,’ I mean to pick something that feels easy to you. Something that is completely out of the ordinary but still easy. If you do this abnormal but easy thing every day, it could potentially propel you into building a myriad of different (also easy) habits!

It’s not about what you do; it’s about how you feel when you’re doing it.

4. Look beyond your ‘self’

We don’t wanna be oursselves anymore, so we should look beyond them. This means to take an objective look at your ‘self’ without giving them any judgement. They have existed thus far (with or without you knowing) under your command. Even if you didn’t want to be this person, you still chose to be this person over and over again. It might not feel like choosing, and it might feel like you are out of control;

But if you are aware of the pattern, why not choose to let it go?

5. You hold all the power

Beggars can’t be choosers, but choosers can be! The power is yours, truly. You are not the victim of your reality; your reality is the victim of you. Turn the perspective around and make a conscious effort to view some things in your life differently.

And when you view yourself differently enough times, change will be yours.

Make it easy, make it fun! This process doesn't have to be difficult.

You are a different person moment by moment because this moment is all there ever is. Choose to be different and stay different. As the paradox slowly reveals, staying the same is truly impossible.
