Why you underestimate the power within yourself

Feeling powerless can be one of the most devastating feelings to feel because it makes you admit something you don’t want to admit to yourself:

You don’t trust yourself.

But let me ask you this: why don’t ya?

I will tell you.

Believe me when I say that I didn’t trust myself either for quite some time. I would feel totally powerless in almost all areas of my life and there was no convincing me otherwise. But deep within myself, I always knew that there was a force inside of me that couldn’t be reckoned with. I knew I held amazing power, not over anyone or anything but: myself.

And that is the only power you need.

You don’t need to have power over anything else and you don’t actually need to have power over yourself, you just need to recognize that it is within you. You need to recognize that it never left nor will it ever leave you. There is this thing inside of you that Abraham-Hicks likes to call: your inner-being. I like to call it: your intuition and some people call it: their higher-selves. No matter the case; there is a power (an intelligence) within you that knows.

It knows, without needing to know. It loves, without needing that love. It cares, without needing to be cared for. It is a source of energy where we all reside from. Its power is never-ending, its energy can never be put out and its presence is always within you. This is the thing you need to trust and it’s the thing that is actually you.

You have a name, a personality, an identity and maybe even a reputation. This source of energy that is within you, because all we are is simply just energy and nothing more,

If you want to know the secrets of the universe you have to think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration
— Nikola Tesla

this source of energy doesn’t have that.

This source of energy simply just is.

Once you start to recognize this power, this intuition, this intelligence, you’ll start to notice that it is far more powerful and loving than your human side. Your human side isn’t necessarily bad, it’s just used to listening to mostly negative things. Did you know that the average person has 70.000 thoughts per day and a whopping 60.000 of those are negative? That is mind boggling.

This infinite intelligence, which is also a chapter in my course, doesn’t know negativity.

Feeling good feels good, because you’re supposed to feel good.
— Abraham-Hicks

But I do get what listening to those negative thoughts feels like. I’ve lived that reality for over 25 years. I know what it’s like to not trust yourself and to feel completely powerless in everything that you do. But once I rediscovered my intuition, I realized that I didn’t need to listen to the thoughts of powerlessness anymore.

Why would you?

I am here to tell you as a firsthand experiencer, that it does not do anything for you or anyone else to feel powerless. And who are you actually doing it for? Why would you make yourself feel so unimportant? Who does it help?

One who makes himself a worm cannot complain afterwards if people step on him.
— Immanuel Kant

Because that is what happens when you feel powerless, when you listen to your negative thoughts and give them the space to grow. Let me tell you why we feel this way:

We are simply just used to it.

Do you want me to give you a reason? I can’t. Because I don’t know what happened to you when you were younger. I cannot deep dive into every single person’s mind and tell them why they feel this way. The only answer I can give you is this (this is a generalized example):

At one point in your life you’ve felt unsafe. People gave you weird reactions, beat you up or verbally attacked you. You started people-pleasing because that seemed to make people react to you in more pleasant ways. You kept this going for quite a while and eventually forgot to take care of yourself. After a while, you lost your entire personality and lost trust in yourself. Because how can you have any faith or trust in yourself when you’ve always felt unsafe surrounded by other people? You felt unsafe and therefore started not to trust people or yourself anymore.

You are powerless and you are used to listening to thoughts which evoke powerlessness.

Let’s now start to take it back by saying these affirmations to yourself:

  • I don’t need any proof from the outside to be a powerful human-being.

  • I have the right to pursue anything that I want in to do in my life.

  • I have the capability to become anyone I want to become.

  • Yes, I AM worth it.

  • Me simply being here makes me worthy of everything I want in life!

You can always go back to listening to your negative inner-voice. But ask yourself if you really want to, because that inner-being of yours will always think the direct opposite.

You are always the one in control, you always have the power.
